Journaling Prompts to Uncover Your Next Chapter
Feeling Stuck? The Answers Are Already Inside You
Friend, have you ever found yourself at a crossroads? You know something in your life needs to shift, but you’re not sure what. The future feels blurry, and you keep waiting for a sign that never seems to come.
I’ve been there too. And here’s the truth: the answers you’re searching for aren’t “out there.” They’re already inside of you—waiting to be uncovered. But in a world full of noise, it’s easy to miss the gentle voice of God and the desires He’s planted in your heart.
That’s where journaling comes in.
📖 “Write the vision and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.” (Habakkuk 2:2)
There’s something powerful about putting words on paper. When you write, you slow down enough to listen—to your heart, to your story, and to God’s nudges. Writing creates clarity, untangles emotions, and gives space for new vision.
Why Journaling Unlocks Clarity
Journaling isn’t just a habit. It’s a spiritual practice.
David poured out his fears and joys in the Psalms.
Paul wrote letters that still speak life to us today.
Prophets recorded visions so God’s people wouldn’t forget His promises.
When you journal, you’re doing what they did—capturing God’s whispers, noticing patterns, and finding courage to step into the future.
Science even affirms it. Writing by hand activates parts of the brain linked to self-reflection and problem-solving. It calms your mind and helps you process what you’re feeling.
So if you’ve been longing for clarity, maybe God is inviting you to pick up a pen.
5 Journaling Prompts for Your Next Chapter
Here are five simple prompts to get you started. Take one at a time. Light a candle, breathe deep, and let your thoughts flow.
1️⃣ What’s something I used to love doing, but have stopped prioritizing?
→ Often, your future is hidden in the things that once brought you joy.
2️⃣ What’s one area of my life that feels misaligned? What would alignment look like?
→ “Let your yes be yes and your no be no.” (Matthew 5:37)
3️⃣ If fear wasn’t a factor, what would I do next?
→ “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)
4️⃣ Who inspires me, and why? What does that say about what I truly desire?
→ The people we admire often reflect the parts of ourselves God is growing.
5️⃣ Where do I feel God nudging me, even if it doesn’t make sense yet?
→ Just like Abraham (Genesis 12:1), sometimes your next chapter starts with faith before clarity.
