The Mentors Who Changed My Life
The Right People Elevate Your Journey
When I first stepped into the world of online marketing, I was an engineer and an educator. I had the drive, but I did not have the roadmap. My journey was transformed when I intentionally sought out and learned from mentors like the late James Martell, Perry Belcher, and Russell Brunson. They showed me what was possible and gave me the wisdom to avoid costly mistakes. Surrounding myself with the right people changed everything.
Are you feeling this way?
You feel stuck in relationships that do not encourage your growth.
You struggle to find mentors or like-minded individuals.
You wonder how to build relationships with people who inspire you.
The truth is, your environment shapes your mindset, motivation, and success. Being intentional about connecting with growth-minded individuals can accelerate your progress. As the proverb says, “Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” (Proverbs 13:20). The right relationships will refine and strengthen you.
Why Surrounding Yourself with Growth-Minded People Matters
They challenge and inspire you. My mentors pushed me to think bigger than my engineering background and see the potential of the digital world.
They provide wisdom and perspective. Learning from their successes and failures saved me years of trial and error.
They align you with God’s purpose. When I returned to California, I found Vive Church. Being part of a community with a huge vision, led by people like Pastor Adam Smallcombe, opened new doors for growth and direction that aligned with my faith.
Biblical Example: Elijah and Elisha’s Mentorship
Elisha sought out Elijah as a mentor, staying close to him to learn and grow. Because of this, he received a double portion of Elijah’s anointing. “Let me inherit a double portion of your spirit.” (2 Kings 2:9). Seeking relationships with the right people multiplies your growth.
5 Steps I Learned to Connect with People Who Inspire Growth
Who do I admire for their wisdom and character? I made a list of leaders in the online space, which led me to my first mentors.
Where can I find growth-minded individuals? I attended networking events and joined mastermind groups. I also found a home in my local church, a place filled with people who inspire me.
How can I add value to those I want to connect with? I learned that relationships thrive on mutual support. I always look for ways to serve first.
How can I step out of my comfort zone to meet new people? I had to remember that “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)
What scripture reminds me to be intentional in my relationships? “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” (Proverbs 27:17)
How to Build and Maintain Meaningful Connections
Be Intentional About Where You Spend Your Time. Choose environments that foster growth.
Reach Out and Show Genuine Interest. Ask questions and seek to learn from others.
Stay Consistent in Nurturing Relationships. Follow up and be proactive.
Pray for Divine Connections. I truly believe God brings the right people into our lives at the right time.
